Sage Hotel James Street is Brisbane’s latest designer hotel and offers the perfect staycation jumping off point for exploring Brisbane’s wining, dining and shopping scene. While it is fast becoming a top choice for leisure travellers, this hotel is equally good for corporates who would prefer to get out of the city at the end of the working day or conduct meetings in style. Savvy business travellers can book the Sage Style Suite on the ground floor which can be used for one-on-one product viewings with customers. The suite is comprised of a private lounge with courtyard plus there is an adjoining room (which clients can’t see) that can be used to stay in and/or store stock. The Sage Style Suite is already proving to be a big hit with high-end fashion houses in town to meet with suppliers.

Decor is contemporary and sophisticated

Sage Hotel James Street has a contemporary feel with a focus on local designers that carries through from the reception area, where staff wear uniforms by Kit & Ace and jewellery from Dinosaur Designs, to the 93 rooms which range from Standard to Superior, Superior Twin and Deluxe. Standard rooms are compact and ideal for single travellers. For a romantic getaway, the Superior and Deluxe rooms, which come with a balcony and have more space, are ideal. If you like the staff’s jewellery, you can pick up an identical or similar item just down the road at Dinosaur Designs’ boutique.

Each room has a stylish bathroom with a mirror that lights up at the touch of a hand. There is also free in-room wi-fi and plenty of spots to charge devices. Mini bars have a charming local flavour with beers from Newstead Brewing Co., sweet treats from nearby providores Jocelyn’s Provisions and New Farm Confectionery, and Yogiic coconut water. The onsite James Street Cafe & Cellar located just off the lobby offers grab ‘n go breakfasts, lunch options and wines at bottle shop prices. Next door you will find Botanical Bar + Kitchen which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and Farrier Supper Club for late night bites 7 days a week.  A free hotel courtesy car makes it easy to reach the nearby CBD and surrounding area if you don’t feel like walking.

There is no pool or gym on site due to Sage Hotel’s prime inner city location. However, guests can pick up a complimentary pass from reception and enjoy a swim at the iconic Valley Pool (432 Wickham Street), a workout at the nearby Function Well Gym (76 Commercial Road) or pick up a yoga mat for some morning stretching and meditation. It’s the perfect way to prepare yourself for a day out exploring the many sights which can be found in the surrounding area.
